Create a Fun Easter Sensory Bin

Start with a simple sensory activity that invites imaginative play. There are so many inexpensive materials you can use to make a fun and festive sensory bin.

Materials you can use:
  • Shredded brown paper bags
  • Easter basket filler
  • Any dried beans
  • Dried lentils
  • Colored Rice

I loved going the recycling route with some brown paper bags that I put through the paper shredder to fill our sensory bin, as well as some fake grass or straw.

On a trip to Michaels, I collected a bunch of small carrots, bunny and chick figurines to add to the bin. You could hide some plastic eggs, or little carrots for your children to find in the garden. I always include scoops or cups for play.

Some of these sensory bins turned into great activity games as well. This is a great way to keep younger kids engaged while bringing the Easter theme to life in a hands-on way.

Dye or Paint Easter Eggs

Decorating eggs is a classic Easter tradition, but you can make it even more creative by mixing different techniques.

Use traditional dye for real eggs or switch things up with paper or plastic eggs. Try painting eggs with brushes, using stickers and markers, or a fun sensory method with whipped cream and food coloring.

Even though my perfectionist tendencies wanted to take over, it was a great exercise in releasing control and letting them get a little bit messy. The process is just as meaningful as the finished eggs.

Have a Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt

Add a magical twist to your Easter celebration by hosting a glow in the dark egg hunt. Place small glow sticks or LED lights inside plastic eggs and hide them around your home.

Turn off the lights and let your kids search for glowing treasures. It transforms a familiar tradition into something exciting and unforgettable.

Bake and Decorate Carrot Cupcakes

Baking together is always a memory-maker. Carrot cupcakes are a perfect Easter treat that feels seasonal and festive.

Let your kids help mix, pour, and decorate. Add cream cheese frosting, pastel sprinkles, or small carrot toppers for a simple but fun finish.

Display them on the cutest pastel colored cake stand to create a styled moment in your kitchen.

Add Seasonal Elements to Their Play Space

Bring Easter into your child’s everyday play by adding a few simple seasonal elements to their play space. This works especially well in a play kitchen or toy area where they already spend time.

Add plastic eggs and toy carrots to their setup and encourage them to “cook,” sort, and count. You can create little prompts like counting how many eggs are in a basket or pretending to prepare a spring meal.

These small additions spark imaginative play while also supporting early learning like counting, sorting, and storytelling. It keeps the Easter theme alive in a natural, low-effort way that feels integrated into their day.

Sometimes the most meaningful magic is not in a big moment, but in the details they return to again and again.

Make Bunny Bait Treats

Create a playful snack your kids will love by making bunny bait. Combine Chex mix, popcorn, and pretzels, then drizzle with melted chocolate and dust with powdered sugar.

You can add pastel candies or sprinkles for extra color. Serve it in small bowls or bag it up as a treat to share. It is simple, a little messy, but always a hit. Check out my reel for the full recipe.

Style an Easter Book Shelf

Bring the season into your child’s space by styling a small Easter and spring-themed bookshelf. Include books about bunnies, springtime, farm animals.

Add soft decor like pastel accents, small stuffed animals, and felt garlands to complete the look. You can even rotate in library books to keep it fresh and budget-friendly. This creates a cozy corner that encourages quiet moments during a busy day.

Make Festive Easter Treats Together

Bring a little extra sweetness to your celebration by making festive Easter treats together. This is one of those activities that feels both creative and memorable, while still being simple to pull off.

Try dipping Oreos in melted chocolate and decorating them with pastel drizzle or sprinkles. You can also dip pretzels for a sweet and salty option that kids love.

For something a little more playful, make rice krispie nests by shaping the mixture into small “nests” and adding chocolate eggs or candies in the center. And for a fun seasonal twist, dip strawberries in orange-colored chocolate with a drizzle to resemble carrots.

Lay everything out on parchment paper and let your kids decorate freely. The process is just as fun as the final result, and it creates a moment of togetherness that feels easy and joyful.

Make a Festive Easter Breakfast or Lunch

Keep the celebration going with a themed Easter plate. Use food cutters to create fun shapes like bunnies, eggs, or flowers from sandwiches, cheese, and fruit. You can create a bunny sandwich with a circle for the head and a heart cut in half to make the ears.

Add colorful sides like berries, carrots, or cucumbers to keep it bright and playful. A small note or surprise tucked into the lunch adds one more thoughtful detail.

Visit a Local Farm for an Easter Egg Hunt

Take the celebration beyond your home by visiting a local farm hosting an Easter egg hunt. This is such a special way to bring the magic of the season to life.

Kids can run freely in the open air while searching for eggs, collecting small prizes, and exploring something new. Many farms also offer the chance to see animals up close, which adds another layer of excitement and curiosity.

It is the perfect mix of structured fun and unstructured play. The fresh spring air, the space to move, and the energy of being outside make it feel like a true seasonal experience.

This outing does not need to be complicated. Pack a light snack, dress in layers, and let your kids lead the adventure. It is one of those moments where the joy comes naturally.

Final Thoughts

Celebrating Easter at home with kids is about creating simple moments that feel special and full of joy. Whether it is baking together, crafting, or setting up a magical egg hunt, these traditions become the memories your children carry with them.

Choose what feels doable for your family and let go of the rest. The magic is not in how much you do, but in how it feels.
